This dataset contains weekly Green Vegetation Fraction (GVF) derived from VIIRS. The Green Vegetation Fraction product is updated daily and is used as an input to land surface models to provide characterization of the Earth's surface. NESDIS evaluates the vegetation environmental data records, compares VIIRS composites to the legacy baseline for consistency, implements algorithm enhancements, and tailors the products for use by NWP models and continuity requirements. NESDIS S-NPP Data Exploitation (NDE) VIIRS-based products provide mission continuity from the AVHRR on POES and Metop satellites. The product is distributed in netCDF-4 file format with metadata attributes included.
