The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Smoothed Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) from NDE is a weekly product derived from the VIIRS Sensor Data Record visible imagery bands I1 (0.64µm) and I2 (0.86µm). It is gridded to 4 km spatial resolution and noise is removed to create a smoothed NDVI. This level 2 product is produced operationally within the S-NPP Data Exploitation (NDE) system and is a necessary input for the VIIRS Enterprise Vegetation Health and Drought Products. VIIRS Smoothed NDVI data obtained from the Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System (CLASS) are distributed as 86-second granules in the netCDF-4 file format with metadata attributes included.
