Multibeam collection for RB0105: Multibeam data collected aboard Ronald H. Brown from 2001-06-26 to 2001-07-03, Victoria, Canada to Astoria, OR

RB0105

During the spring and summer of 2001, an interdisciplinary consortia of scientists, led by investigators from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, conducted a 7-day mission off the Oregon coast that focused on Astoria Canyon, a major submarine canyon off the mouth of the Columbia River. This modern-day "Corp of Discovery" mapped, explored, and documented the physical, chemical, and biological systems of this westernmost portion of the Columbia River drainage system, which begins just 10 mi west of the present mouth of the Columbia River.

Lineage Statement Multibeam data is collected by vessels of varying characteristics including ships, small boats, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV). The NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (formerly NGDC) archive raw data, processed data, and associated products. All data and products are made available to the public via NCEI's map services and search interfaces.

    Processing Steps
    • 2015-04-22T00:00:00 - NOAA created the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by merging NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), including the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC), per the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, Public Law 113-235. NCEI launched publicly on April 22, 2015.
