abstract: The cruise investigated how complex fine-scale structure and processes in coastal waters dominated by pulsed-river plumes control the exposure, impacts, and ecosystem recovery from offshore spills like the Deepwater Horizon release of 2010. Data were collected along three transects in the northern Gulf of Mexico in water depths from 10 metres to 60 metres using the Reson 7125 multibeam sonar and a In Situ Ichtyoplankton Imaging System (ISIIS). Stations along the corridor completed CTD casts, trace metal testing, water chemistry, FlowCam analysis, radio-isotopes testing, and productivity experiments.
purpose: CONCORDE is the CONsortium for oil spill exposure pathways in COastal River-Dominated Ecosystems (CONCORDE). It is one of 12 research consortia funded by the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) to conduct scientific studies of the impacts of oil, dispersed oil and dispersant on the Gulf’s ecosystem and public health during 2015-17.

The system is available in three separate configurations; one designed specifically for installation on small survey vessels and a 6000 meter depth rated system for either ROV or AUV use.
