TZCF Oceanographic Survey (SE0902L1, EK60)
Oceanographic data were collected along the 158°W Meridional from 22°30′N-36°00′N. CTD cats were conducted at predetermined stations. CTDs were equipped with oxygen sensors and fluorometers, and chlorophyll and nutrients were measured at discrete depths. Biological backscatter and currents were monitored using the EK60 echosounder system (38, 70, & 120 kHz) and an RD Instruments ADCP along the transect. Samples of micronektonic organisms were collected from the shallow and deep sound scattering layers at predetermined locations.

- Kongsberg/Simrad instrument files (.raw or .wcd) (Version: 1)
- File Specification: Kongsberg/Simrad .raw files are generated by ME70, EK60 or ES60 instruments. They contain power and optionally angular position data with each beam/frequency identified by an independent channel. See the Simrad interface specification manual for further information. The .wcd files are generated by Kongsberg EM302 or EM122 instruments. See Kongsberg documentation for more information.

Purpose |
The scientific objectives of this cruise are to collect data on physical and biological properties of major fronts within the North Pacific Subtropical Frontal Zone, where cooler, more productive subarctic water meets and sinks under warmer, less productive, subtropical water. This highly dynamic region influences the distribution of top predators’ (such as tuna, swardfish) and turtles, resulting in changes in CPUE of fish and rates of fisheries interactions with turtles. |
