Wang-Sheeley-Arge (WSA)-Enlil Solar Wind Prediction

browse graphicLogo for WSA-Enlil.
Wang-Sheeley-Arge (WSA)-Enlil is a large-scale, physics-based prediction model of the heliosphere, used by the Space Weather Forecast Office to provide 1-4 day advance warning of solar wind structures and Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that cause geomagnetic storms. Solar disturbances have long been known to disrupt communications, wreak havoc with geomagnetic systems, and to pose dangers for satellite operations.

Supplemental Information
WSA-Enlil model data are produced by NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) using satellite and ground-based observations.
Purpose The NCEI Solar and Terrestrial Physics (STP) Branch provides scientific data stewardship of solar-terrestrial datasets in compliance with NOAA Administrative Order (NAO) 212-15, "Management of Environmental and Geospatial Data and Information", dated 04 Nov 10. Scientific Data Stewardship includes the Archive, Access, and Assessment (AAA) of operational and related solar and space environmental datasets.
Use Limitations
  • otherRestrictions
  • While every effort has been made to ensure that these data are accurate and reliable within the limits of the current state of the art, NOAA cannot assume liability for any damages caused by any errors or omissions in the data, nor as a result of the failure of the data to function on a particular system. NOAA makes no warranty, expressed or implied, nor does the fact of distribution constitute such a warranty.
