Near shore water chemistry data from Island of Hawaii and Lanai 1988-2011 (NCEI Accession 0104398)

This data set contains coastal water quality parameters as measured at seven shoreline locations on the west side of the Island of Hawaii and one site on Lanai, Hawaii during 1988-2011. Each location had over 20 sub-sites for sampling. Most were sampled roughly 4 times per year though some only once annually and other years with as many as 11 observational visits. The water quality data comprise 14 parameters and were collected using well-established instruments and methodologies. Parameters are aspects of water chemistry including turbidity. This set does not include measurements of bacteria. The data are stored in spreadsheets of the same format, with one file per location.

Supplemental Information
The data collection was funded by the Clean Water Branch, Department of Health, State of Hawaii as support to the Clean Water Act of the US Environmental Protection Agency. The Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) supported the centralizing of the data in 2012.
