abstract: Cruises took place from April 1996 to March 2013 in the Barents Sea and Arctic Ocean. Cruises were part of the long-term Ecological Monitoring program funded by the Russian Academy of Sciences and Murmansk Marine Biological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences to collect data for study of mechanisms of influence of Arctic environment on the state of marine life. Nuclear ice breakers were used as ship-of-opportunity to collect oceanographic data in the central Arctic and along the route of commercial cargo vessels (North Sea Route) in the Eastern Arctic Seas.
purpose: This dataset is available to the public for a wide variety of uses including scientific research and analysis.
