NODC Accession 0112820 includes meteorological, visual observation and physical data collected aboard the LAURENCE M. GOULD and NATHANIEL B. PALMER during cruises LMG0106, LMG0205, NBP0104 and NBP0204 in the Indian Ocean, South Atlantic Ocean and South Pacific Ocean from 2001-07-26 to 2002-09-15. These data include WIND DIRECTION, Snow thickness, ICE - TYPE, SPECIES IDENTIFICATION - COUNT, WATER TEMPERATURE, ICE - MOVEMENT - SPEED, Snow type, WEATHER, AIR TEMPERATURE, WIND SPEED, Ice Depth/Thickness, SEDIMENTS - PERCENT COVER, ICE - COVERAGE and ICE - CHARACTERISTICS. The instruments used to collect these data include not applicable. These data were collected by Christian H. Fritsen of Desert Research Institute as part of Southern Ocean GLOBEC. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NODC on 2013-07-25.

The following is the text of the abstract provided by BCO-DMO:

Sea Ice Observations during Southern Ocean GLOBEC
Sea ice observations on the Southern Ocean GLOBEC cruises were conducted according to standardized protocols developed and utilized by members of the Antarctic Sea Ice Processes and Climate working group (co-sponsored by SCAR and GlOCHANT).
