Dissolved Inorganic Carbon (DIC) and Total Alkalinity (TA) samples collected via Niskin bottle and analysed on shore from the Gulf of California in the summers of 2004, 2005, and 2008, as well as from the Eastern Tropical North Pacific in 2008. These data were collected by Fredrick Prahl of OSU and Brian Popp of UHM as part of the Paleo Perspectives on Climate Change and Biological Oceanography projects, and submitted by Matthew Wolowe of OSU.

Processing Steps
  • Data Type: tCO2 [DISSOLVED INORGANIC CARBON (DIC)] (measured); Units: mmol kg^-1; Observation Type: laboratory analysis; Sampling Instrument: Niskin bottle; Sampling and Analyzing Method: Water samples were preserved with mercuric chloride until analysis. The samples were acidified, and the resulting CO2 trapped and measured manometrically via the methods described in Popp et al. 2006.; Data Quality Information: Typical method precision better than 10 micromole per kg.
  • Data Type: TOTAL ALKALINITY (TA) (measured); Units: mmol kg^-1; Observation Type: laboratory analysis; Sampling Instrument: Niskin bottle; Sampling and Analyzing Method: Determined by Gran titration as per Popp et al. 2006.; Data Quality Information: Typical method precision better than 10 microequivalents per kg.
