This dataset contains raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile and time series data logged by the Scientific Computer System (SCS) aboard NOAA Ship Pisces in the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from 2015-10-12 to 2015-11-24. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) personnel aboard the ship submitted these data and associated metadata to NCEI. In addition, this dataset contains supplementary cruise-level metadata, which OMAO personnel logged in the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL). OMAO and NCEI personnel developed the automated process to archive these data under the auspices of the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (NOAA R2R) program.
Provide an index of the relative abundances of fish species associated with topographic features (e.g., reefs, banks, and ledges) located in the mesophotic reef areas of the U.S. Caribbean. Techniques include longline fishing and fish trap sampling as well as video recording and collection of multibeam sonar bathymetry. Secondary objectives include quantification of habitat types sampled (video and side-scan), and collection of environmental data.

aerovane
aerovane
anemometer with a tail to measure both wind direction and speed
An aerovane is an anemometer used to measure both wind direction and speed. The tail orients the instrument into the wind for direction while the propellers measure the wind speed.
anemometer
anemometer
measures wind speed
An anemometer is an instrument that measures wind speed. Note that an aerovane (insttypes_id 175) is an anemometer which has a tail and a propeller to measure the speed and direction of the wind.
barometer
barometer
Barometers are instruments for measuring atmospheric pressure;
two types include mercury barometers and aneroid barometers.
CTD
CTD
Conductivity-Temperature-Depth probe
echo sounder
echo sounder
instrument used to determine water depth or bathymetry
also known as an echosounder
fluorometer
fluorometer
fluorometer
GPS
GPS
Global Positioning System receiver
satellite-based instrument used for geo-location, positioning and navigation
humidity sensor
humidity sensor
HUMIDITY SENSORS are devices that receive a signal or stimulus
(as heat or pressure or light or motion etc.) and responds to
it, in this case humidity or some measure of the water vapor
content of air.
temperature sensor
temperature sensor
A sensor used to measure temperature.
thermosalinograph
thermosalinograph
automated sea surface temperature and salinity instrument, usually attached to the hull of a ship
Thermosalinograph is an automated Sea Surface Temperature and Salinity measurement system making measurement on board a ship using a water intake.
