Abstract: The Helheim Glacier was observed to retreat and speed up during the mid 2000s. One possible cause of the change in glacier behavior could be due to changes in ocean properties, temperature or salinity. A research program was established to monitor the ocean conditions near the glacier during 2009-2013.
