Dataset Overview | National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI)

Oceanographic data collected during the EX1609 (Main Hawaiian Island Shakedown) expedition on NOAA Ship OKEANOS EXPLORER in the North Pacific Ocean from 2016-12-10 to 2016-12-16 (NCEI Accession 0160069)

This dataset contains oceanographic data collected in Honolulu, Hawaii. The primary goals of this cruise included a shakedown, test, and calibration of the ship’s suite of scientific sonar systems used for exploratory ocean mapping and baseline characterization. Multibeam, split-beam, and ADCP sonar mapping operations were conducted 24 hours a day throughout the cruise, as well as sub-bottom profile mapping which was conducted periodically during the cruise for test purposes. XBT and CTD sound velocity casts in support of multibeam sonar mapping operations were conducted at intervals defined by prevailing oceanographic conditions.
