Oceanographic and surface meteorological data collected from station Mohawk R. Lock 8 hydro/weather by Hudson River Environmental Conditions Observing System (HRECOS) and assembled by Mid-Atlantic Regional Association Coastal Ocean Observing System (MARACOOS) in the Hudson River from 2012-01-04 to 2019-03-31 (NCEI Accession 0163410)
This dataset contains oceanographic and surface meteorological data collected at Mohawk R. Lock 8 hydro/weather, a fixed station in the Hudson River. These sensors measure AIR TEMPERATURE, BAROMETRIC PRESSURE, CONDUCTIVITY, DEPTH - OBSERVATION, DEWPOINT, DISSOLVED OXYGEN, INCOMING SOLAR RADIATION, LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, OXYGEN - PERCENT SATURATION, PRECIPITATION AMOUNT, RELATIVE HUMIDITY, TEMPERATURE - SEDIMENT, WATER LEVEL, WATER TEMPERATURE, WIND DIRECTION, WIND GUST, WIND SPEED, pH and turbidity at frequent intervals in the nearshore coastal ocean. Hudson River Environmental Conditions Observing System (HRECOS) collected the data and provided the data to MARACOOS, which assembles data from Hudson River Environmental Conditions Observing System (HRECOS) and other sub-regional coastal and ocean observing systems of the Mid-Atlantic Coastal United States, submitted the data to NCEI as part of the Integrated Ocean Observing System Data Assembly Centers (IOOS DACs) Data Stewardship Program. The data are made available in netCDF formatted files, which follow the Climate and Forecast metadata convention (CF) and the Attribute Convention for Data Discovery (ACDD). Each month, NCEI adds to this dataset the data collected during the previous month.
The hydrologic station for Mohawk Lock 8 is at the downstream end of the sheet piling below Lock 8 on the Mohawk River/Erie Canal. Sensors are approximately 5 ft. above the riverbed. The weather station at Lock 8 is just NW of the Lock 8 buildings. Sensors are installed on a 10โ tower that is above nearby vegetation and over 15 meters from any nearby structure. Data is reported to a nearby CR1000 datalogger via wireless transmitter (~300 m), then to the HRECOS database by cellular modem.
