Underway meteorological, navigational, physical and time series data collected aboard NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown in the North Pacific Ocean, South Pacific Ocean and Southern Oceans (> 60 degrees South) from 2016-11-12 to 2017-02-01 (NCEI Accession 0164315)
This dataset contains raw underway meteorological, navigational, physical and time series data logged by the Scientific Computer System (SCS) aboard NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown in the North Pacific Ocean, South Pacific Ocean and Southern Oceans (> 60 degrees South) from 2016-11-12 to 2017-02-01. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) personnel aboard the ship submitted these data and associated metadata to NCEI. In addition, this dataset contains supplementary cruise-level metadata, which OMAO personnel logged in the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL). OMAO and NCEI personnel developed the automated process to archive these data under the auspices of the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (NOAA R2R) program.

Purpose | The decadal re-occupation of select NOAA hydrographic transects helps to determine natural and human-caused changes in chemical and physical properties in the Pacific Ocean. Systematic observations of the invasion of anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) and geochemical tracers in the ocean superimposed on a variable natural background are made in direct support of the United States Carbon Cycle Science Program and Climate Variability and Prediction (CLIVAR) Program. |
