This accession contains surface oceanographic and meteorological data collected in situ from the Leg 0,1,2,3,4,6,7 and 8 of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18. The oceanographic data were collected onboard "Turn the Tide on Plastic". The meteorological data were collected by Dongfeng Race Team, Team Brunel, Vestas 11th Hour Racing, Sun Hung Kai Scallywag, Turn the Tide on Plastic, Mapfre and Team AkzoNobel.
The data variables include pCO2, chlorophyll, sea surface temperature and salinity, true wind speed and direction, air temperature, air pressure and others. The pCO2 data was calibrated daily with a zero calibration and in every port with a standard gas. The data was calculated as one minute averages with a variation in difference below 0.1. The oceanographic instrument used is an OceanPack RACE manufactured by SubCtech in Kiel.

Purpose Due to this project we hope to get data from remote and unfrequent measured Oceans. We gather data from many different Oceans within 9 months of data collection. From next month (march) on even with a second system on board the "AkzoNobel" for further comparisons.
