abstract: The water depth and temperature data was collected from ship Moana Wave. The data was collected from TOGA (Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere) Area in the Pacific (30 N to 30 S) for the year 1989. The originator's bathythermograph (XBT) data was submitted in a cassette by Mr. Yves Montel of Office de la Recherche Scientifique et Technique Outre Mer (ORSTOM), Noumea, New Caledonia. The data has been converted and is now available on line in C116 file format of NODC.
purpose: This dataset is available to the public for a wide variety of uses including scientific research and analysis.

The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created.
