abstract: The Master Oceanographic Observation Data Set (MOODS), maintained by the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO), Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, is the standard Navy database for oceanographic observations. Data contained in MOODS include observations of thermal and chemical properties of the water column from surface to bottom, the biota and currents in the water column, and the underlying sea floor as collected by oceanographic agencies worldwide. Mr. Mike Jugan submitted the data on November 14, 1991.

The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).
