PARTICULATE ORGANIC CARBON, cloud amount/frequency and other data from COLUMBUS ISELIN in the NW Atlantic, South Atlantic Ocean and SW Atlantic from 1991-11-05 to 1991-11-23 (NCEI Accession 9300014)
Transmissivity and fluorescence data collected as part of AMASSEDS (A Multidisciplinary Amazon Shelf SEDiment Study). The primary objective of AMASSEDS is to understand the sedimentary processes on the continental shelf near the mouth of the Amazon River; the physical oceanography component of AMASSEDS is directed toward understanding circulation and boundary layer processes in this region. Data were collected in conjunction with CTD observations made on the North Brazil shelf aboard the R/V ISELIN (cruise #I9113) from November 5-25, 1991. CTD data were collected with a Neil Brown Instrument Systems (NBIS) model MKIII CTD fish. CTD data were filed at NODC as file type F022, Reference #TW4831. Transmissivity data were collected with Sea Tech 5cm path transmissometer; data were used in calculating suspended sediment concentration in mg/liter. Associated fluorescence data is under Ref.# L01572. Data were submitted to NODC on floppy diskette in ASCII by Dr. Richard Limeburner. Header information is contained in each file; a companion report, WOODS HOLE Oceanogr. Inst. Tech. Rept. WHOI-92-27, was included in the documentation.

Supplemental Information | The publication listed below is related to the data collection and is available from the NOAA Central Library: 1992 CTD Observations on the North Brazil Shelf During A Multidisciplinary Amazon Shelf SEDiment Study (AMASSEDS) November 91. Woods Hole, Mass. : Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, 1992. Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis. Points of contact for this data set include: Contact info: Agency: WOODS HOLE OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE PI: Limeburner, Dr. Richard Address: address: NOT AVAILABLE city: WOODS HOLE state: MA postal: 02543 country: UNITED STATES In this accession, NCEI has archived multiple versions of these data. The latest (and best) version of these data has the largest version number. |
