The accession contains data collected in North Pacific Ocean from Hawaiian Ocean Time Series (HOTS) project for years 1, 2 and 3 as part of Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS). The HOTS deepwater station is located 100km north of Kahuku Point, Oahu; 22 degrees 45' N, 158 degrees W. A secondary shallow station is located at 21 degrees 20.6' N, 158 degrees 16.4 W (used primarily as a CTD test site). Depth, Carbon, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Mass data (JGOFS sediment trap flux data) collected in association with HOTS-1. The data are presented in column format.

Supplemental Information
Additional year one HOTS data may be found under Accession number 9300009 (WOCE-released tape) and 9300183 (JGOFS-required data). Principal Investigator was Stephen Chiswell of University of Hawaii.

An additional HOTS Years 2 and 3 data set with all JGOFS-required parameters was submitted by NE liaison August 1993. See NODC Accession number 9300183. These HOTS-2 data are filed under NODC reference numbers L01487-L01495; HOTS-3 data are filed under NODC reference numbers L01496-L01503. Users are advised to use data in accession number # 9300183 that was submitted by NODC NE liaison.

The publication listed below is related to the data collection and is available from the NOAA Central Library:

Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).

Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description.

To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
