This dataset contains 99 sets of data collected as part of Shipboard Environmental data Acquisition System (SEAS) III program in North Pacific Ocean, North Atlantic Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico. The cruises were conducted using multiple different ships. The bathythermograph (XBT) data was collected between August 22, 1992 and July 4, 1994. The data was sent from the cruise ships to the National Ocean Service, Rockville, MD via telecommunication.
This dataset is available to the public for a wide variety of uses including scientific research and analysis.

General Comments:
Name change from SEDCO/BP 471 to JOIDES Resolution confirmed for 1996.
From Leslie Peart at Deep Earth Academy [deepearthacademy@oceanleadership.org]. Here are the answers to your questions straight from Captain Alex Simpson, who's aboard [JOIDES Resolution] right now.
1. The Science Community affectionately called the SEDCO BP/471 "JOIDES Resolution" soon after sailing from Pascagoula where the science conversion was done back in 1985. However, the vessel did not officially change her name till 1996.
2. I can confirm that IMO No.742308 is correct
3. Call sign is D5BC
Confirmed by NOAA on 2012-09-10.
