Turbidity, SOLAR RADIATION - ATMOSPHERIC and other data from unknown platforms in the Bismarck Sea, Solomon Sea and other waters from 1990-07-01 to 1992-07-31 (NCEI Accession 9500124)
The Hydrology Bottle data in this accession was collected in Great Australian Bight as part of Global Ocean Data Archaeology and Rescue (GODAR) project from RV Franklin and other coastal hydrology stations. The data was collected between July 1, 1990 and July 31, 1992. Oceanographic Station Data contain physical and chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. The data in originator's format from 1502 stations was submitted to NODC by Ms. Edwina Tanner of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Australia via FTP.
The following gives a list of the locations of the data files. e4.hyd Port Hacking (100m) data. e5.hyd Port Hacking (50m) data. f9.hyd Maria Island data. K2.hyd Rottnest Island data (have resent all this data set so may be duplicates in the time period 17/4/51 to 22/05/84 with GODAR submission). The fr data files are RV Franklin data.
Note: If you convert the Hydrology data to SD2 format then the originators cruise identifier will have be placed into the SD2 format so we can keep track of the data. There is nine character field called 'Originators Station ID' which can be used for this purpose. In order to construct this field combine the year, cruise code and station number into this field as follows i.e
yyccnnnnn = 9 chars
where yy= year (chars 4-5 of first header record) cc= cruise code (chars 6-7 of first header record) nnnnnn= Station number (chars 11-15 of first header record)

Supplemental Information | Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
