Phaeopigments, chemical, and other data from salinometer, fluorometer, and other instruments in the Coastal Waters of Hawaii as part of the Mamala Bay Study project, 1989-01-01 to 1994-12-31 (NCEI Accession 9800089)
This dataset includes effluent water quality data for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit holders in the Mamala Bay region.
Phaeopigments, chemical, and other data were collected using salinometer, fluorometer, and other instruments in the Coastal Waters of Hawaii from January 1, 1989 to December 31, 1994. Data were submitted by Hawaii State Department of Health as part of the Mamala Bay Study project.
Department of Public Works (DPW), City and County of Honolulu, Water Quality Branch, provided a diverse data set consisting of 4 types: (1) Bacteria data - collected from receiving water stations in Marnala Bay per NPDES permits. (2) CTD data - collected conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD) meter data from some of the sites described in the NPDES permits. (3) Discharge data - monthly average discharge data from Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) at Sand Island and Honouliuli for 1988-95. (4) Water quality data - basic water quality data from sampling sites described in the NPDES sites. Parameters include the following: density, temperature, salinity, oxygen, nitrate, ammonia, Nitrogen and a few others.
Kinnetic Laboratories, Inc. (consultants), provided two 24-hour water quality studies within the Ala Wai canal with water column samples of temperature, salinity, and various bacteria indicators.

Supplemental Information | Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis.
