This directory contains legacy formats and code tables for standardized
data files developed at the former NOAA National Oceanographic Data
Center (NODC). These formats and codes are retained here because data
can still be retrieved in these formats from NCEI archive systems.
Longtime NODC data users might remember some of these formats as
MULDARS (MULti-Discipline Archives Retrieval System) formats. MULDARS
was a data management system developed and used by NODC until about
1994. NCEI no longer reformats data into these format types.
